The Lincoln Travelogue and Magic Lantern Show
The Lincoln Travelogue and Magic Lantern Show by Michael Lawlor is a recreation of a slide lecture originally presented by Surrick Lincoln of Philadelphia from about 1905 to 1912. It shows Lincoln's trip from Michigan to to Quebec and Montreal, from Fort William across the Prairies to the Rockies, to Spokane, Washington with side trips to Idaho and then Seattle, Victoria and Vancouver. This form of entertainment had its heyday before the age of movies and TV.
This is a slide show and travelogue, based on the original lecture and hand coloured glass slides, projected from a 1914 Victor Portable Stereopticon projector. The narrative is from Lincoln's typewritten lecture, Lawlor found together with the images. When recreating this lecture, he refurbished the slides and found images to replace those missing. Lincoln was not a photographer, but probably bought most of the images
